On the job search? Suitability assessment coming up? Here's how to prepare!
Sometimes a job search brings up a variety of aptitude tests or assessments. These are designed to give the employer, and you, more information about whether your qualities and abilities match the requirements of the vacancy. Such tests can be a source of anxiety, especially if it is your first time. Did you know that you can practise in advance with tests you can find online? See our tips on how to prepare for the aptitude test!
Preparing for an eligibility assessment can feel difficult, especially if it is your first time. The best way to prepare is to be yourself and, if possible, ensure a good night's sleep and clear thinking for the assessment. Some test manufacturers offer tips for those coming for an aptitude test, as well as the opportunity to try out and practise different aspects of the aptitude test beforehand. It is worth taking this opportunity to familiarise yourself with the logic of the different methods before the actual assessment takes place.
Even if you are not interested in aptitude testing at the moment, it is worthwhile to familiarise yourself with the different tests. It is likely that at some point in your job search process you will also be invited to an aptitude test, so practising in advance to understand the logic of the tests is not a bad thing.
In this article, we've put together some sample tests from different aptitude test providers that you can try out for free.
Talogy (former Cubiks)
Talogy, a provider of personal assessments in Finland and abroad, gives you the opportunity to practice for their tests with a few sample questions on their website. They are also open about their own assessment process and give good tips for those coming for an assessment.
Aon (former Cut-e)
Aon, formerly known as Cut-e, also offers the opportunity to practice answering their tests. Like Cubiks, Aon's website also offers good tips on how to prepare for the tests. Their training website is in English.
SHL, a more traditional provider, has put together a wide range of practice tests, especially in English, on its website.
On the Clevry website, you can try the free Joy at Work assessment and identify your strengths at work. You will receive a personalised feedback report based on your answers. You can also use the platform to practise aptitude tests so you can be at your best in real life!
